you gotta see this movie!

Something the Lord Made is an awesome movie about two men who start a medical revolution. Dr. Blalock (Rickman) is the white, wealthy surgeon at Johns Hopkins, and Vivien Thomas (Mos Def) is a carpenter who dreams of going to college and becoming a doctor. Together, they try to figure out a way to save their main patients -- "blue babies". Blue babies are infants with heart defects, and if there is no way found to save the babies, they will continue to turn blue until they slowly suffocate. After performing the first heart surgery, Dr. Blalock and Vivien Thomas become known as medical pioneers. Though they both contributed equally to the research and performance of the heart surgery, Vivien doesn't receive the credit he deserves and is pushed out of the limelight to make way for Blalock. Set in 1943, in a still segregated society, their different social positions threaten to tear apart their relationship and invincible teamwork. I won't spoil the ending for you, but I hope you feel persuaded to go rent this now. It really is a remarkable, moving film. And what makes it even better? It's a true story.

I would love to go to pre-med, medical school, do all that, become a doctor, and help cure people and save lives and such...

I just first need to find a cure that will help me get over the gross stuff.
